It should be out by end of this month.

Have fun playing.

That would be my guess too, but totally a guess.

hi Tom. I'm still at SP1 of windows 2003, because of the known problems with ISA and Win2003SP2.

Maybe ISA2006SP1 will solve all the iussues and, then, I could/should install Win2003SP2 too? In which order? :)

Thank you for your help

tshinder -> RE: ISA 2006 Service pack 1 (25.Jun.2008 10:40:21 AM)

Hi Tinto,

There is actually a tool that will be available to you after you install SP2 on Windows 2003. It will show up in your Microsoft Update list that will automatically turn off the problem components of SP2.

HTH,
Tom

thank you. I've just installed the Windows 2003 Server SP2, rebooted and launched Microsoft Update: nothing has showed up in it [8|]

I guess i will run the executable found in the link you kindly gave me...

tshinder -> RE: ISA 2006 Service pack 1 (1.Jul.2008 7:40:52 AM)

Hi Tinto,

It will show up on Microsoft Update. Have you configured Microsoft Update on the firewall? When you use MS Update instead of Windows Update, it will detect that you have the ISA firewall installed and download the file that will disable the SP2 Registry entries that cause the problem.

HTH,
Tom

yes Tom, I always use Microsoft Update instead of older one on the machine I administer. And the voice "ISA Server 2006" appears in my window, and I have installed at least one patch with this method in the past.

But today there was nothing about ISA, so I have run the exe suggested in this thread, which has run without reporting any error.

At the moment I'm writing my machine is in production since a couple of hour and no problem has been reported.

P.S.: the Hardware is a Dell PE 1850, with 4 Intel NICs

Hi Tinto,

Well, I'm sure I saw it :)

Good to hear that you got it working though, hope it stays working well!

still working nice, and ready to upgrade backup machine too.
And... ready for the ISA 2006 SP1, hoping this will solve another problem I have (with HTTP compression enabled, the page memory usage slowly increase until the compression stops working and a reboot is needed)

minerat -> RE: ISA 2006 Service pack 1 (2.Jul.2008 6:40:05 PM)

It's in the wild - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d2feca6d-81d7-430a-9b2d-b070a5f6ae50&DisplayLang=en

Though the KB article referenced in the overview doesn't appear to be up yet.

Does it include the supportability update?

tinto -> RE: ISA 2006 Service pack 1 (3.Jul.2008 5:00:23 AM)

in the .doc i can read
New alert for exceeding virtual memory threshold of the Microsoft Firewall service A new alert has been created that monitors the amount of virtual memory consumed by the WSPSRV process (the Microsoft firewall service). By default, the monitoring is off. To enable it, configure the threshold of virtual memory through the registry. When the virtual memory used by the WSPSRV process exceeds the specified threshold, an alert is activated. On the Actions tab of the Alert Actions dialog box, you can configure the alert to stop and then start the service.

i think this is the iussue i am experiencing with memory. pity that it is not a real solution but just an automatic restart feature

remushociota -> RE: ISA 2006 Service pack 1 (3.Jul.2008 12:04:30 PM)

Guys let me ask a question before I do anything stupid.
Can I remote desktop myself into the ISA and install SP1 like that? Because the ISA is inside a colocation center and I know the SP install stops some services on it, and I am afraid I will be locked out of that server... what do you think?

thanks

Fr0sT -> RE: ISA 2006 Service pack 1 (4.Jul.2008 3:09:03 AM)

I've installed SP1 through RDP - worked like a charm. It stops the firewall service but does not disconnect your remote desktop session.

elmajdal -> RE: ISA 2006 Service pack 1 (5.Jul.2008 4:39:53 PM)

Yep.

I tried installing it remotely on multiple installations, Check my article here : Installing Service Pack 1 For ISA Server 2006 Remotely

remushociota -> RE: ISA 2006 Service pack 1 (7.Jul.2008 12:22:51 AM)

Well sadly enough let me tell you that in my case it locked me out... it started the install and at the screen where it was saying stopping ISA services bla bla it waited and waited and after that the remote desktop connection dropped and I was not able to reconnect anymore... so I had to use the remote hands service in that center. Nice huh? :)
I used the /console switch when connecting to ISA. Otehr than that I really don't know what could have caused this.
To use the remote desktop I followed this instructions back when I first installed the server http://forums.isaserver.org/m_190086500/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#190086500

HTH other people...
