Grape -> Publishing an FTP server (17.Jun.2008 8:23:48 AM)

Hi,

   I'm trying to publish an FTP server, which I thought would be pretty straight forward. However, everytime that I try to access the server via FTP, I keep getting blocked by ISA's default rule. I'm pretty sure that everything is as it should be in the rule but I'm obvioulsy missing something.
   The configuration is (N.B. All these servers and IP addresses are in a test virtual environment, with no access to the outside world, which is why I'm happy to give the detail of the addresses).

Internal FTP server W2K3 Ent. SP2, running IIS, IP of 172.16.3.5

ISA server, 2004/SP3 on a W2K3 Ent SP2, Internal add=172.16.3.4, External=131.17.3.8

I've published the server as per the addresses above, for FTP Server with default port settings.

The only rules on the box are to publish a web site, a secure web site, the FTP site and the default rule. The two published web sites are accessible. So far I've confirmed;

External resolution of the name ftp.domain.loc points to the external address of the ISA server.
The enable folder view for FTP sites in IE is switched off.
I've changed the registry on the ISA server to set FTP to passive mode.
Read only check box is un-ticked.

I've tried accessing the site from IE and the command line and I get the same error message in ISA, that the default rules is blocking the user request.

The only thing that I'm not sure of is that the monitoring message says that the destination is the local host.

Sorry the above is long and rambling but this is driving me potty. I'm sure that I'm missing something simple but at the moment I can't see the wood for the trees.

Thanks,

Grape
