mboskovic -> adjusting client settings? (26.Jun.2008 10:02:13 AM)

I just recently installed ISA Server 2006, and I have decided to deploy the firewall client with web proxy enabled to all computers in the domain.  I will be deploying the client through the active directory software deployment tool.  However, I am unsure as to how to go about configuring the client settings for each firewall client.  For example, I wish to hide the notification tray icon from all users, but by default when you install the software through AD it leave the tray icon visible to all users.  I know that I can change this parameter through the *.ini files in document and settings folder, but this would be a tedius task to perform for every user and every computer.  Is there a way to have ISA set this option automatically when it grabs its configuration script from the ISA server or is there a way to set this option during the AD deploy?

The problem is that, even if you script the changes to the Management.ini file, the icon will only be hidden whilst the firewall client is connected.

One solution is to create a software restriction policy that blocks access to fwcmgmt.exe.  Add this to a GPO and apply it all the users who should not be able to see the icon.
