One of clinet in our network is using AVG 8.5 Antivirus after installing ISA he is facing problem in updating AVG. I have created firewall rule but it is now working. Can any one let me know how I should create firewall rule to AVG Update Server so that client can get update from AVG Server. AVG Update Server list is as below:-

backup.avg.cz
backup.grisoft.cz
files2.grisoft.cz
files2.avg.cz
download.grisoft.cz
download.avg.cz

Dear Paulo Oliveira,

Thanks for your reply. We are using ISA Secure NAT Clients and I have configured firewall rule as below:-

Name (AVG Update) -> Allow -> protocols (HTTP, HTTPS & FTP) -> from (Internal) -> to (Domain Name Set) All AVG update Servers -> for all users.

Please guide me how I should create firewall rule to allow AVG Update Servers to update AVG.

Hi,

what does ISA logging tells you? Is there a rule requiring authentication for the same protocols above this one?

Can secureNAT client resolve external DNS names?

I just installed ISA on our network and all of our clients are unable to update AVG. Was this problem ever resolved?

It would appear that the only way to get this to work is to set the proxy settings in AVG itself. I tried manually adding a firewall rule to allow everyone outbound access to the AVG update websites but that did nothing. It seems that the FWC doesn't intercept and properly reroute packets from the AVG client like it should and that putting in proxy settings manually into the AVG client itself may be the only way.

This could be a problem considering how many AVG clients may be installed in any given organization. I only have to work with about 30 here but, if there was a way to configure the client's proxy settings via the AVG server (we use a client/server AVG setup), it wouldn't work because there are other clients on a different network that do not use our ISA server for their internet connection. So, if I configured the server, it would change the settings on the clients at our other corp office and those clients would no longer be able to update properly.

Anyone else know of this issue and know of a fix?
