Hi, we would like to purchase a Dell PowerEdge rack mount server for the ISA Server 2006 standard version. It will be a webproxy/firewall server.
Can someone recommend which PowerEdge server should we go for without going overboard or too little?

Seems like ISA Server 2006 doesn't require much. I was concerned because when I tried out the ISA Server 2004, it was very sluggish with 1GB of RAM and I up it to 4GB before I see any improvements and the server was relatively new.
So with about 80 users, a couple of web server publishing services running, a regular 1 Xeon CPU, 2GB RAM, 200GB Sata HD is sufficient?

Now, my next question is; How much performance will I see in terms of web access? Does web proxy cache makes a big difference or should I just setup the ISA as a firewall only?

I would spec it capable of running TMG so that you can upgrade easily. Have a look here:
