Hello

Good Day

ISP load balancing .. we need to understand this feature as network administrators as its very important to us ..

allot of question's and allot of answers but still we don not know what we can and what we can not

I have three question's if it answer in details , this topic will be enough to clear all the future question's about this feature

because i will make it very simple with IP examples :

First : Two lines from the same ISP with same gateway and same DNS in single TMG server

NIC 1
IP1 192.168.1.10
Sub 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
DNS 192.168.1.1

NIC 2
IP2 192.168.1.11
Sub 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
DNS 192.168.1.1

Dose TMG support ISP load balancing in this configuration ??

if not , can i use router to convert the second NIC address to different address :

NIC 2 by router
IP2 192.168.1.11 >>>> 172.16.1.11
Sub 255.255.255.0 >>>> 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1 >>>> 172.16.1.1
DNS 192.168.1.1 >>>> 172.16.1.1

so we have finally :

NIC 1
IP1 192.168.1.10
Sub 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
DNS 192.168.1.1

NIC 2
IP2 172.16.1.11
Sub 255.255.255.0
Gateway 172.16.1.1
DNS 172.16.1.1

Dose TMG support ISP load balancing in this configuration ?? ... " cheating the TMG "

==============================================================

Second : Four lines from Two ISP with different gateway and different DNS in two TMG servers

TMG 1
==================
NIC 1
IP1 192.168.1.10
Sub 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
DNS 192.168.1.1

NIC 2
IP2 172.16.1.10
Sub 255.255.255.0
Gateway 172.16.1.1
DNS 172.16.1.1

TMG 2
==================
NIC 1
IP1 192.168.1.20
Sub 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
DNS 192.168.1.1

NIC 2
IP2 172.16.1.20
Sub 255.255.255.0
Gateway 172.16.1.1
DNS 172.16.1.1

Dose TMG support ISP load balancing in this configuration ??

if i have single user connected to this array , dose he get the four ISP Internet speed ??

Thanks in advance to your help

Best Regards

Hi IQ,

Check out my two part series on ISP redundancy and see if they answer your questions.

If not, let me know here and I'll try to answer them.

Thanks!
Tom

Thank you Tom for your replay

well , i read alot in isaserver.org article's and tutorial specially for you before submit a question hare ..

we can understand ISP redundancy for 2 ISP with different gateway , but what about 2 line from the same ISP with a same gateway ??

we need a solution for this issue , and for that i ask if i could cheat the TMG by using router to change the address and the gateway !!

in my environment i have 8 IP from the same ISP with same gateway and currently I'm using hardware load balance

how you could solve such problem ??

thanks very mach in advance

TMG's solution is for different ISPs for different gateways -- so if you want to do something different, the TMG feature won't work.

HTH,
Tom
