Hi All,

Does anyone out there know if there is a 3rd Party Add-on or feature within ISA Server 2006 that will allow me to Filter HTTP/HTTPS traffic based on the browser the request was made from?

We have a dev team that would like to test our website using a multitude of browsers, such as Chrome, Safari, Opera, Firefox, IE etc. However I do not want them browsing the internet using these browsers and potentially installing extensions/addons that may be malicious etc.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi,

You could possibly use the HTTP filter to inspect the HTTP traffic and look for unique User Agents strings that are used by each type of web browser. You can find a list here:

http://www.zytrax.com/tech/web/browser_ids.htm

More on HTTP filtering in ISA here:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc302627.aspx

(this is still relevant for >ISA2k4 too)

Cheers

JJ

This is perfect. Thank you very much for your help.

For everyone else that might stumble across this thread with a similar issue, I found this link useful as a HOW TO guide.
