Hi

My company runs ISA 2006 Ent as an Edge firewall, and I would like to configure an access rule for IIS 6.0 SMTP Virtual server to only send out emails (no receive) from a web server.

I have done this:
Access Rule: Allow SMTP Outbound
Allow
SMTP Protocol
From 10.10.9.51 (Web server running SMTP service)
to External
All other options as default.

Mail Publishing Rule:
Server-to-server communication
SMTP protocol
server IP 10.10.9.51
External IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

When I try doing a test mail send to my corporate email account directly from the web server by putting a test mail text file in C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Pickup, it goes straight into the Queue folder and then disappears.

Monitor logs from ISA shows that there is a 0x0 ERROR_SUCCESS, then FWX_E_GRACEFUL_SHUTDOWN.
However, the email is nowhere to be seen.

Next, I try doing a test mail send to my Gmail account. The mail file gets stuck in the Queue folder, and never leaves.
Monitor logs from ISA shows 0x0 ERROR_SUCCESS for a couple of entries, then FWX_E_TCP_NO_SERVER_REPLY.

The same thing happens with a test mail sent to my Yahoo account; ERROR_SUCCESS, then FWX_E_TCP_NO_SERVER_REPLY.

I know that the SMTP service worked before the ISA was implemented, so it has to be a configuration issue somewhere.

Would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help.

Cheers.
