Hi Fellas:

I recently upgraded to the new Windows Live Essentials suite that came out yesterday and now I cannot login to save my life...

I checked my Firewall Policy and Messenger is enabled for port 1863 and when I launch the client's built-in troubleshooter I get all green lights (good).

However, when I login it throws the Error code: 80048439

I looked in my logs and this is the first error I see:

Forefront TMG requires authorization to fulfill the request:  Access to the Web Proxy filter is denied.

anonymous  Internal External

http://www.sqm.microsoft.com/sqm/messenger/sqmserver.dll

Is something from MS trying to come back thru TMG and getting blocked?  I don't get it...

Note:   I have SP1 installed, W7/IE8 with the TMG Firewall Client enabled...

It was working fine until I upgraded my client.

Thanks.

Hi King,

You might need to configure the client as a web proxy client or Firewall (TMG) client.

Is your Access Rule requireing authentication?

Thanks!
Tom

Yes, my workstation is an authenticated (AD) TMG client.

Yes, my access rule requires authentication.

I was reading another post that explained how to create a rule so that link could be accessed without authentication (which I did).

I got a little further in the login process but then it threw another error message.

I went thru the logs and it was trying to access several more links without using authentication which I added to my new rule but it is still failing for me.

On a side note, the Live Mail application is also failing with similar symptoms.

Either I'm an early adopter or nobody uses TMG because this is a very popular application!

Has anyone had similar issues with the Beta and TMG?

I'm in (almost) the same situation.

Windows Live Essentials 2011, which was released..
ISA Server 2006

Eventually the login process fails with error 81000306, ISA logging does not show denied access from my client, only Allowed messages..

I've been using the beta of LiveEssentials and haven't had any problems from behind TMG. However, I'm not requiring authentication. What happens when you do that?

Tom

keep getting errors in isa server 2006.

443 HTTPS Denied Connection MSN 0x800733f5 WSA_RWS_ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED

but msn 2009, build 14.0 works fine in the same network, including this same machine updated to 2011.

I wish I could help you but I'm in the same boat.

I guess that this confirms that the same issue exists in all supported version of ISA/TMG.

Maybe a genius will chime in...

Hi King,
I haven't upgraded from beta - is this a problem with the final version?

Thanks!
Tom

Are your browsers configured with the web proxy client configuration?

Thanks!

I have tried both configs, proxy client and firewall client with no dice...

Incidentally, it doesn't seem to work with Asstaro or BordumbMangler either!
