I recently migrated from ISA 2004 EE array to TMG array with an EMS server.  Still learning about the new features, etc.

One thing I have noticed is that one of my two array servers is not updating its Malware and Network Inspection definitions.  What can I do to troubleshoot this?  I have checked the server's event logs for clues, but nothing jumps out at me.

Thanks, in advance, for pointing me in the right direction!

John

Thank you Paulo, I will take a look at that article indeed.

Turns out I have had other problems with the TMG array with routing, nic binding, etc. that has been baffling me lately, and just today I noticed that all the inspection defintions properly downloaded and updated!

Regards,

John

I followed the blog that you referenced Paulo, and created a new protocol definition and access rule for WSUS updates.  I also checked the WindowsUpdate log file on the problem TMG server and it would appear that it is properly talking to the WSUS server.

Problem is, in the TMG Update Center screen, for this server I am seeing warning messages for both Malware and Network Inspection defintions as follows:

The status of the Network Inspection System update service on the server TMGSRVB could not be retrieved. Verify that the Microsoft Forefront TMG Control service is running on the server TMGSRVB

I have tried restarting the Control service on the TMG server, but this did not help.  Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks very much.

John
