Hi,

We have a domain controller in addition to an isa server 2006.

The Microsoft Firewall Client was working properly when it stopped working.

I enabled logging on the isa server and whenever i click on Test Server in the Settings tab on the Microsoft Firewall Client on my computer, the isa logging returns the following:

0x0 ERROR_SUCCESS
0x80074e21 FWX_E_ABORTIVE_SHUTDOWN

Any idea why this is happening ?

In addition if i select the Automatically detected ISA Server radio button on the client and click on detect now it returns the following error:
Failed to detect ISA server

This problem always existed so i used to select the enter Manually specified ISA Server and it used to work and now its not as i mentionned above

Best Regards,
Elliot Nehme

Hi Elliot,

your DC is installed on the same machine as ISA firewall?

Do you have Auto Discovery properly enabled and configured on your network?

Regards,
Paulo Oliveira.

The domain controller is on another computer than the ISA server

Im not really sure if the autodiscover is properly configured. How can i be sure? And if it's not how can i configure it.?

Best Regards,

Hi,

you can follow this article to configure Auto Discovery: http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/Configuring-DHCP-DNS-automatic-discovery.html

Regards,
Paulo Oliveira.

Hi,

I followed the steps mentioned in the above link and configured properly the wpad on our both DHCP servers and both DNS servers but still not working.

Still when i click on Detect Now, it returns failed to detect ISA server and when i click Manually specify ISA server and click Test Server it returns failed to connect to server and the same error is showing in ISA logging as i mentioned above.

Any idea?

Best Regards,
Elliot Nehme

What does it do if you manually specify the ISA by the Internal IP# instead of the name?

Go tot he Properties of the Internal Network Definition,...then to the Firewall Client Tab,...make sure you haven't disabled the Firewall Client there.

If you call them and resolve it,...post the results here. It would make this thread valuable to others trying to solve similar problems.
