paul_psmith -> routable "broadcast" ip's not spoofed (3.May2012 12:06:03 PM)

I am seeing an issue occasionally from mobile devices connecting to our activesync site. The mobile device gets an IP address of something like 212.183.128.255. Now since this is a class C CIDR address, this is technically a broadcast IP. However a whois on this IP shows that it is owned by Vodafone UK, and they actually have a net of 212.183.128.0 - 212.183.144.255, which really does fall outside the "correct" definition of a class C subnet.

Now since ISA server is set up to not route broadcast traffic, it can't deal with this so classifies it as a spoofed packet and drops it. At least I think that is what it is doing from what I have found on Technet.

Is there a way to fix this? Any workarounds?

Thx
Paul
