I have an application called Webcheck, that is used for scanning fingerprints. It makes an secure I.E. connection on 443, and needs to upload the files to their server as part of the procedure. What do I need to do in order to make this work? Even with the firewall client and Admin privelages it doesn't work. Any help appreciated.

Hi oleary,

You may need to bypass the Web Proxy service to do this. This easiest by to do this is to configure the HTTP Redirector Filter to forward requests from SecureNAT and Firewall client directly to the Web server. This will prevent HTTP and HTTPS requests from being sent to Web Proxy service, as long as the browser is not configured as a Web Proxy client.

HTH,
Tom

Thanks for the quick response! This won't break any publishing rules, or allow anyone who isn't specified to have internet access.

Man Tom, you are the ISA guru. That did the trick! I swear you should be working for Microsoft, because without you, no one would be able to use this product!

Hi oleary,

Well, if you do this, you can't force people to use the Web Proxy service. If people change their settings to a SecureNAT or Firewall client, they won't be redirected to the Web Proxy service, and therefore won't use the cache or the content filtering mechanisms.

However, if you're concerned about access control, you can create a Protocol Rule for TCP 443 and limit access to that protocol to certain users and groups.

HTH,
Tom
