Anyone know of a good site or service that offers firewall testing? I saw one, www.hackerwhacker.com. Are there others like this, or anyone know of a really reputable one? Thanks.

So how good really is the ISA firewall and is it desirable to stealth the pop3 & SMTP ports when running exch 2000 ?

You can also try www.grc.com (Gibson Research) for ShieldsUP! which is pretty good (and free).

As for how good ISA is, it's ICSA certified on it's first incarnation, which is about as good as you get.

Stealth on all ports is advisable - if you have DNS setup for mail, then there is no reason to not have the ports stealthed.

If when I perform an "all port scan" on my firewall from an outside source, I get a null response (meaning the firewall appears invisible) yet, last night we believe port scanning brought the firewall to it's knees.

Am I missing something?

I run a service called Qualys...it's absolutly the best product I have tested...and provides a wealth of usefull information, and links to patches etc when the report is finished...I believe this is also the same scan that American and Canadian Government agencies utilize...

It's not cheap, but it makes up for the price in the amount of time you save...

for some additional information check out:

http://www.e-com.ca/escan/default.asp

If you do deciede to try it out call the company and ask for Jason Williams, tell him you read a post from Rob and I'd bet he'd give you a great deal on a first scan...

I REALLY REALLY BELIEVE IN THIS SERVICE AND HIGHLY RECOMEND IT!...

Take Care,

Rob
