I can successfully get a Netscape 6.2 session to work from behind ISA but ONLY on the ISA machine ( dual-homed ). Is there something I am missing to get it to work from a client behind ISA?

Thx in advanced

Hi Terry,

Netscape will work only with basic authentication.

HTH,

I know. Are there special settings other than on the server property pages for incoming and outgoing requests with authentication? A client on the network behind the server just will not connect to any web site using Netscape...

You need to turn on basic authentication on the ISA machine. This is listed under properties of the ISA server.

Or you could allow anonymous browsing.

Got it...Netscape needed manual proxy with name of proxy server. dont use http:// before proxy name. only problem after that is Netscape asks for authentication every time. New version let u put in name and password and has check box for Let password manager reuse this info ( or something to that effect ) and if you check it, it will be there next time you run netscape and u only have to click ok and it runs. Might like to know how to get rid of that. Only have about 12 netscape users on lan and I am going to transfer them to IE...

Hi all,
I have a little bit similar problem... which is I have a communicator 4.05 and I assign my proxy name in Manual proxy setting ... But when I ask for a URL it asks me for authentication... I gave him a username and a password... But no response.

Any help?
[Confused]
Best regards.

Netscape 4.05 has no capability for saving user names and passwords for proxy authentication. 6.2 has a check box for remembering the same name and password. Possible upgrade?

Install the firewall client on that machine and tell Netscape (any version) that you don't use a proxy server. [Wink]

ntldr, ...
Should I install Firewall Client whether I didn't using the ISA Firewall? I'm just using ISA for caching and controlling the users. [Confused]

Terry, ...
It doesn't need to save the username and password in Netscape because it asks fo it each time. But the problem is whether u enter the correct username and password, it keeps searching without benefit. [Frown]
