Enabling Automatic Updates - 6.Mar.2003 3:31:00 AM
Guest
Hi all,

Have an ISA machine I wanna update (I've been real bad...) with ISA SP1 and also update the W2K machine it's on. I think I remember reading here it was bad practice to allow the ISA machine itself to have an active web browser (again, I'm not sure if I read it somewhere or just made it up). Windows Update won't load up as my web browser is non-functional. Can anyone advise me on what I can do to have automatic updates / Windows Update workable?

It's OK to have the ISA as a Web Proxy client, or a Secure Nat client.

What you are thinking of is the rule to NEVER install the Firewall Client software on the ISA itself.

Set your browser on the ISA as a Web Proxy client and your updates should work.
