Hi All,

I have been using www.numion.com to test the throughput of our ISA servers. This is an excellent site for testing the "surfing" experience for users.

The site cicumnavigates the cache, and gives a general report of throughput by loading the headers of a load of major web sites and refreshing to provide an average speed performance.

I am finding that ISA severely reduces the throughput when compared to accessing the internet direct.

Access direct :500 kbps
Access via ISa :210 kbps

We have the ISA configured as caching only.

Can you suggest how we can reduce the "latency" caused by ISa and speedup the throughput.

Well, you could always disable the cache...

But then, that would make your ISA implementation useless.

The latency is caused by the cache. The requested information comes in to the ISA, gets cached, then gets passed to the requesting client. This delay while the ISA caches the data is the latency you are seeing.

I have since tested the configuration in integrated mode, and have found considerable improvements in performance.

Does cache only mode not work properly?? It would seem also that the web proxy client is much slower than the SecureNAT cleint...

does this add up??
