I am curently going throw the book. I just want to ask a general questions on security over the web.

On page 394 of chapter 6 - defense plan 5, you give a process to publish our mail service over ssl. You said that with normal server publish, everybody with a packet sniffer can see the content of my communication.

Everybody is : everybody on the web, or everybody on my lan. Can people over the web can just intercept communication and read it. This is not supose to be block in a switched network.

Thank to follow up on that question.

Hi QZ,

True. Anyone with a packet sniffer in the correct location. For example, Hotel and coffee shop networks used shared access. Put a packet sniffer on those networks and you'll see what I mean [Smile]

Ok but they need to have control hover the network. Thay cannot sniff just over the internet?

Is that True?

Hi QZ,

Not sure what you mean by control over the Internet. I have run Network Monitor on many wireless and shared access networks at hotels and airports and find the information very interesting [Wink]
