OK guys,

I MUST test this tomorrow. Something odd is going on and we've got to have an answer fast!

Thanks!

Look forward to hearing how it goes as i am now holding off installing Exg 2003 SP1 in case it causes the same problems.

Hey guys,

I just tested it on Exchange 2003 SP1 and it works the same. I didn't have to change my methods on the ISA firewall, and I used the same config as described in the ISA 2004/Exchange kit to configure the OWA site. It actually seems a bit quicker to me, but that might be an optical illusion.

HTH,
Tom

I'm having the exact same issue - I configured OWA published through ISA (following the instructions on this site), which was working fine until last night's install of Exchange 2003 SP1.

I've double-checked my permissions, etc. as above - resetting /ExchWeb, /Exchange and /public to basic-only, as I used to use basic & integrated for easy access from both inside and outside the firewall, which worked fine until last night - but still get the same problem; another logon request filling in each of the frames where my mailbox ought to be.

It really is most frustrating.

Hey guys,

Wish I could replicate your config, but I tested it on three production machines and don't see the problem. [Frown]

I'm also having the exact same issue with my Exchange environment - I have also put up a similar test setup and I experiensed the exact same problem there too, so something is definetely wrong.
My setup is ISA2004 in DMZ (unihomed) with FE EX2003sp1 and BE EX2003sp1 in LAN. The problem occoured when the BE server was upgraded with sp1. The FE server was running with sp1 for 2weeks before I upgraded the BE, with no problem.
In production my BE server OS is w2k sp4 and in test w2k3.

Hi SE,

OK, a couple of things here:

1. I haven't tested the unihomed config, so that might introduce some interesting results.

2. I haven't tested the FE/BE config with Exchange SP1 either. That might be the source of problems too.

However, with a multihomed ISA firewall configured as a network firewall, publishing a back-end Exchange 2003 SP1 box, I don't see any problems.

HTH,
Tom

Hey guys,

Just for fun, create a Cache Rule that prevents caching any objects from the published OWA site.

Hi Tom
I tried making a Cache rule (no cache from owa site and also http cache disabled), but its no difference. The Cache size was at default 0MB anyway.

Hi SE,

OK, if the cache size is 0, then there's no caching anyway.

I'll have to put together a FE/BE config and test with SP1. I haven't installed SP1 on any production FE/BE because I've distrubed SP's since the debacle of NT SP2 [Eek!]

I see what I can find out about this, there have to be a fix!

Thanks!
Tom

Tom, just to be precise, I don't have a FE/BE config, I have a single Exchange box.

I have a friend who has the same setup that also has this same issue since installing E2K3 SP1.

It's tricky but I don't believe in coincidence... [Wink]

Hi Alessandro,

I don't think its a coincidence because I'm seeing a lot of other people complaining of the same thing!

What version of ISA are you using?

Thanks!

I too am having the same problem. OWA (with SSL) has been up and running for months with no problems until I upgraded to Exchange 2003 SP1!.

Our setup:
1. Win2003 Server with ISA 2004 (at perimeter)
2. Win2003 Server with Exchange 2003 SP1 (LAN)

I have double-checked the documentation I used to setup everything (perms, etc.) and everything looks ok.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Monique

Is there a temporary workaround that would require minimal configuration changes until someone has a solution to this problem? We have staff that use OWA while traveling that require an immediate solution or workaround. I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Monique

Switch from forms-based authentication to basic on ISAserver.

Hi SE,

That is a good workaround, but not a good permanent solution.

I wonder if it works for me because I am using a much later build of ISA 2004?

Thanks!

Hi SE,

I'm not aware of a later build that is publicly available. But I haven't heard from anyone with later builds having the same problem, so I'm thinking that this indeed may be a beta bug.

Hi Monique.

The workaround I used was simple:

- in the OWA listener you created on ISA2k4 disable all authentications, it'll give you a warning but it's ok.

- enable FBA on exchange 2003

In this way the users will be presented with the FBA login page, but it will be generated by Exchange instead of ISA.

That's what I'm using now and it's ok.

Tom I'm using ISA2k4 beta 2.
