I have a dual-homed ISA 2004 server with a DMZ interface and Internal interface. The rules I have created for HTTP(S) Publishing work great but I cannot get listeners configured for SMTP or IMAP. When I run a netstat -an I get absolutely no entries for 25 or 143. I installed SMTP on the server before installing ISA 2004 in case we wanted to implement message screener. When that service is running, port 25 does show up but it still does not accept mail from a test pc in the DMZ.

Should netstat show me the listeners on this server? I have a test ISA server configured similarly and have played with NAT settings and have not been able to resolve this. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi K,

Check out the articles on this site and in the ISA/Exchange kit for how to configure the ISA firewall as an inbound relay.

HTH,
Tom

Thanks for replying Tom.

I have been reading everything I can get my hands on, including the ISA / Exchange kits. My worry is that I don't see the listeners after I publish the mail server. Should that not be the case?

Thanks,
Kathleen

SMTP is working I think but I still cannot get a listener for IMAP. I attempted to make the front-end Exchange server a SecureNAT client but it caused mail to stop flowing between the front-end and back-end Exchange servers, both on the internal network. Is there any other way to get this scenario to work?
