Hi!

All of a sudden, my Isa (2004) Firewall service won't start up no more. All i get is a service specific error 213008. As there is no documentation whatsoever over at Microsoft, i have no idea what this could mean. Running on Win2k3 Enterprise, all Windows Updates, SQL Services up and running.

Maybe just coincidence, first happened after upgrading to new a version of VmWare (4.5.1). I have since uninstalled VmWare as being a possible villain, but to no avail.

Any help very appreciated!

Hi Georg,

Try uninstalling and reinstalling ISA and see if that fixes it.

What was a result? A have an exactly same problem. Did you reinstal ISA? If yes, was the proble solved?

I do have the same issue too. A repair seems to solve the problem temporarily...

I'm still figuring out. Keep you informed...

hi ,

maybe this helps , I had this error once too and I rearranged the firewall ruleset , exported to XML and reimported , then the problem was fixed.

Having exactly the same problem.
Tried to rearrange the rules, export to xml and then import. To no avail. Problem persists.

Even deleted all the rules. Tried to start, nothing, same problem.

Can anybody give more help?

Hello,

I have exact the same error, in ISA 2004 EE SP2. The problem is in a NLB cluster. Only node 1 has the problem.
Node 2 is working normal

Node 1 give the following error:
Event ID: 7024
The Microsoft Firewall service terminated with service-specific error 213008 (0x34010).

Re-import XML ruleset.No effect.
Had someone the same error in this situaion ?

I solved the problem.
I removed all rules, and re-applied the service pack 2. It's strange work-around.
I'm still in pre-production, but I'm really worried about the stability of ISA 2004 EE.

I am in the process of upgrading my ISA 2000 to ISA 2004 and had this same error. After reading this thread. I reinstalled SP2 and the firewall service came up.
