Has anyone had this problem.. Install SP1 and access to certain HTTPS pages now respond with "Connection Refused" or "Connection Failed"

Access to the HTTPS pages were working prior to installation of SP1 and now I see these errors popping up.

Uninstall isn't working exactly as they published either.. Still fighting that one.

Hi Chuck,

I think this might be a coincidence. We've had no problems with HTTPS.

I'm just about to install the service pack onto myy testserver. But i'm curious how strict everybody installs windows updates onto the isaserver.
Every Critical update?
And directly after they come out?

Hi Harm,
I just let Windows Update handle it, so I guess mine was fully updated.

HTH,
Tom

That is on a Windows 2003 Stnd Ed. machine (all MS updates).

I couldn't find the problem so I had to reload windows from scratch, reinstall all the Windows Updates. Install ISA 2004 Stnd ed. and then install SP1. Back up and running after 4 hours of reinstall.

Thankfully I have a full export of my ISA configuration to another storage area. After I did all the installs I imported it back and was back up and running.

I received the following error when upgrading...
Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files\Microsoft ISA Server\fltrsnk1.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024894. Contact your support personel.

I did not install Windows Installer 3.0 prior to the upgrade.
Everything seems to work fine. Should I be woried?

I just built my ISA 2K4 server on W2K3 with all the M$ hotfixes recently so it is not yet in production. I installed MSI 3 first and then installed SP1 from an RDP session without the /Console switch. Everything looks fine so far.

Hi Stephen,

The error indicates something realated to the SMTP message screener. Is that installed on the machine?

Thanks!

Tom,

IIS is not installed on the server since I don't use it as an SMTP relay. Actually, it looks like I chose all options when I installed ISA. Maybe it gives the error since I selected to have SMTP message screener installed when IIS is not. I removed it from the list of installed options to avoid future confusion.

Thanks,
Stephen

Hi all,

as I've told in the past, it happens sometimes that firewall service crashes without any given reason.
It's not a so big problem because it returns up in less than a minute; I hoped that SP1 would have solved the problem but it didn't happened.

Firewall service crashing eh?

I've got the same problem - ISA thinks the Firewall Service is stopped, but Windows thinks it's running, so I'm not getting auto-restart.

I rather suspect that it is some form of malformed data packet (since I'm seeing an Access Violation). Unfortunately I have not been able to upload the crash to MS as the firewall services will not restart.

Any suggestions?

Hi Dr,

Did ISA Server 2004 Service pack 1 solves issue of Web chaining between branch office and head office ISA Servers in a Site to Site (local-remote) VPN scenario...? Before service pack 1 , web chaining and firewall chaining was not supported in ISA Site to Site VPN Scenario...

Please Reply,

Thanks,
Faisal

I think I just got lucky regarding the problem connecting to Terminal Server on ISA Server. It could be a coincidence, but I just went to Add Remove Windows Components, didn't change a thing, and just clicked next all the way through, and when it was finished, terminal services is working again! Let me know if this works for anyone else.

I have this exact same problem, however, my system is using ISA Server 2000 SP2. I can't find any references to this issue elsewhere, if anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it !

Can Anyone explanation my problem?

After installing SP1 for W2k3 and sp1 for ISA 2004, we had some problems with ISA it did not really work anymore. In the dashboard not everything appeard and it looked like that the MSFirewall service was not running as it should.
It looked like as if i didnt had permissions anymore. The service account for this service is default "NT Authority\NetworkService" when i changed this to "Local System Account" everything was up and running again.

I sugested to try this to a few people who had the same problem and everything started working for them to.
Nowhere i find a related problem on the Internet or in the KB of MS.

Anyone an idee what is wrong in our situation?
Is it SECURE for me to change this service to "Local System Account"?? [Confused]

Thank you.

Mark

I have exactly the same error on one of my ISA servers.  All but one deployed with no issues,  but one gets this terminal services error.  I have no idea how to fix it.
