Good morning all,

We are having problems with our upstream proxy server and redirecting us to the wrong sites "[Frown]" ,we also have no controll over this upstream server. Let me explain.

We are at a school with ISA2004, which gets it internet feed(100mb "[Big )from the local council. To use https sites we need to go through their proxy server (proxy.localconcil.org) but we don't need to use the upstream proxy server for normal http traffic.

Is there any way of specifying not to use the upstream server for all protocols apart from https and set https to use the proxy server.

Many thanks

Andy,

PS already got the book "[Big and cannot find anything in there about multiple upstream proxy servers and different protocols. If you have a page number that will do as long as it answers my question.

Hi Andy,

You can configure the browsers with custom Web proxy settings. Web chaining rules won't work to do this.

HTH,
Tom

Just to make sure I have this correct

client
http: ourgateway.local:8080
https: proxy.localcouncil.org:8080

Our ISA server

any https traffic => proxy.localconcil.org | all users

Right looks like you can setup different web chaining rules depending on what you want to use.

Setup a URL set called secure websites
add the url https://* to that set

in configuration > Network > web chaining create a new rule called secure proxy

On the Rule Destination section input the secure websites set

Request Action select the "redirect requests to a specified upstream server"

Primary Routing: enter the upstream proxy server and ports
set a backup action in you have one

Apply

This should now only send https websites to the upstream proxy and all other requests should use the default or next chaining rule.

I am sure that Tom will confirm this setup
