Currently on our server we have 2 external ADSL connections for internet access etc.

I want to set it up so i use one specific connection, and only to use the other connection in an emergency.

For the life of me I cant figure out what i need to do to set this up. "[Confused]"

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks "[Smile]"

RainConnect will sort that out for you - it'll do a load more too, like load balance the lines, let you add more ADSL lines in the future and control which protocol / services use which ISP lines.

Because of all this extra functionality it may be priced above what you would expect to pay, but take a look at the introductory slideshow on this site http://www.raininfo.co.uk

Thanks Rosscoid [Smile]

I have heard of RainConnect before, but hadnt looked at it closely. I'll check it out, i know that it is priced quite high.

For a period of time i used a Symantec 200R fw/router.  It has 2 WAN ports.  I just kept one port disabled and switched over to it when i needed it.  It does load balance the 2 WAN connections but it's quite annoying when you are browsing a secure site.   You'll keep getting logged out when the router switches connections, which could be every 30 seconds.

Place a OpenBSD box in front of it , that will do the job for you.
