Many thanks gentlemen. I had a problem whereby my engineers and myself could view an ftp site folder on a remote ftp server, but could not create or rename folders. I created a server policy named 'ftp access out' and then unticked the box under configure ftp. Initially, I was confused as I had set the access out of the building to everyone anywhere... which is why I could view the folder. Presumably the specific 'ftp access out' adds to and allows configuration of, ftp access. By the way.... I'm still using an isa2000 client with isa server 2004. Can anyone advise on whether it's worth the trouble installing isa client 2004 across the company... and where I can find the executable!!! Thanks, Angelis

I too am having this problem, being unable to upload any files to an FTP location. Here is exactly what I have in my Access Rule:
Access rule (label): FTP Outbound Action: Allow Protocol: Selected Protocols: FTP From: Internal, Local Host To: External Users: All Users Schedule: 24x7 Content: All content
I right-clicked on the FTP protocol and unchecked the Read-Only attribute. It's still not working, and I don't know why. I have enabled outbound Internet traffic for all users so I don't know what else should be changed.
This is the feedback from the server when I try to upload a file using Van Dyke's SecureFX product:
i Transfer(00BE2948): Opening file 'xxx.html' for upload as 'xxx.html'. > Transfer(00BE2948): PASV < Transfer(00BE2948): 227 Entering Passive Mode (xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,136,210). i Transfer(00BE2948): Data connection 71AB3B91 connected. > Transfer(00BE2948): STOR xxx.html < Transfer(00BE2948): 550 Access is denied. i Transfer(00BE2948): File xxx.html could not be opened by server: 550 Access is denied.
I did a clean install of SBS2003 and ISA 2004 with all the service packs. I was able to upload when I was using ISA 2000.
Can someone help me? This is work stoppage for me -- I am a web designer part-time and I have to use my dialup connection to upload files until this is fixed.

I finally figured it out; when I selected the Edge Network configuration, the Unrestricted access selection configured an FTP setup without me realizing it. I thought I needed to add another one, which is what is described above. When I realized that the template rule contained an FTP specification, I went in and found the still checked read-only setting, unchecked it, and voilą! Now it works.
Hopefully this will clue in others who might not have figured out the the template rule was the governing factor.
