Hi...

I have a ISA 2004 Std running on Win2003 Std with SP1 installed. It is in a Back-to-back config. It's not a domain-member; belongs to WORKGROUP.

Internal network: 192.168.88.0-255 (ISA has .1)
Ext./perimeter: 192.168.100.0-255 (ISA has .253)

I have configured RADIUS/IAS settings by following the tutorials on this site. Seems to be
no problems there. Also made a Remote Access Policy.

To test my VPN-configuration I have a WinXP Pro
client with SP2 installed on the 192.168.100.x network.

When I try to connect via VPN (PPTP) the ISA server rejects the atteempt, and tells me the username/password is incorrect for the domain.
The ISA server logs this: Failed attempt for user WORKGROUP\donh@domain.local

And my IAS server doesn't log anything. Then I made a local user on the ISA machine, and tried my VPN (PPTP) connection with those credentials, and it suddenly worked :/

What is happening here? Why doesn't ISA use the RADIUS settings I have given it?

Regards...

Found the solution!

Seems like ISA 2004 works badly with Win2003 SP1, without SP1 for ISA. After I installed SP1 for ISA all my problems went away [Smile]

Sotty to bother you. My bad!

Ragards...

Yes - this is mentioned in the download page.

In the Overview section, there is this note "NOTE: You must install ISA Server SP1 in order to run ISA Server on Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1"
