Hi, I am trying to get a client behind my firewall to connect to a MS VPN server on the internet using PPTP. I am getting an error 800 from the client. I have tried on more than one machine. One without the firewall client software. One with with it both on and off with the same error result. I have also placed and access rule for pptp from inside to outside. Any suggestions on why my client can't communicate out. I have not yet updated the service pack level to SP1 on the isa 2004 firewall. [ August 03, 2005, 06:56 PM: Message edited by: RGBroome ]

Hi RG, Is the client a SecureNAT? Is there an Access Rule allowing outbound PPTP? Is there an MTU issue? Thanks! Tom

Securnat client has its default gateway set to the isa internal nic card or has a default gateway that routes to the isa server. Once that is done you will need an anonymous outbound pptp access rule.

Ok, so i have disabled the firewall client. Given myself an static IP with the default gateway specified as the internal interface of the ISA server. Put a publishing rule with allow pptp from inside to outside for all users. Still no luck? I can connect to this right away on a cable modem.

Have you examined the firewall logs to see if there is a rule that is denying the pptp external access?

Ok, so without changing anything else today I gave it a try on my machine and it worked with my static ip info! I went back to the DHCP server and set the default gateway to ISA server, and now the DHCP assigned addresses work as well. Thanks so it was the gateway!
