looking for some notes...

does it mean that the isa server (since it must be installed in a separate pc) must have its own internet connection as compared to proxy programs (wingate,winroute) where it resides in the main server.

Hi kinalas,

Those other programs are SOHO proxy/firewalls. They work nicely from small offices because they're easy to configure and allows all sorts of stuff in out of the network. Which is good for a SOHO that allow needs to allow the kids to play games and stuff over the Internet. ISA Server gives you enterprise level security. But you can run a unihomed ISA Server as a caching only server, if that's what you're looking for.
