Is it possible to "install" the ISA MMC on a XP computer to manage the isa servers?

You betcha - just add the computer to the Firewall Policy\Toolbox\Network Objects\Computer Sets\Remote Management Computers.

This group is allowed access on TCP 3847, or the MS Firewall Control protocol needed to manage the server remotely.

Ok, I noticed that already.
But how dow I get the ISA msc on my remote pc.

Just copy the file gets an initialize error..

I already found it.
Just ran the setup from the original cd on my pc and there it was.

Great it's working.
I can manage the 2 isaserver now directly from my desktop instead through RDP.

But....
When i want to use a query e.x. look at all active vpn connections or make a simple query in the ligging tab I get the error:

The query stopped because the server is not responding

I've been following this thread and have a similar issue which is rather puzzling. I can control the machine with VNC, but would like to use a workstation (on an external network) to control the server via the managment console.

More specifically, I have a netgear router in front of the ISA server and the control workstation is external to that router.

So far, I have reverse mapped a port on the router to the external interface on isa2004. And I have added the external interface network range to the allowed management computers list in the system policy.

However, this arraingement doesnt work. I either get a access denied or a RPC server unavailable error.

Suggestions?

Well I fixed it.

It turns out I had everything configured ok in terms of ports forwarded on the router, published rules, and a system policy correctly listing remote administration computers.

The errors were from an authentication problem. Given the machine is in a test lab, I neglected to give the administrator account a password. While ISA didn't care any about that, it mattered for remote management authentication, because logons using administrator (without a password) fail.

Hi Guys/Gals

Im having trouble manageing 2x ISA 2004 in one MMC console.

I can connect to one, but whe I connect to the second server I get this message:

"The Server is already connected".

If i connect to either of them individually it works.

Both serves are on the same domain as the desktop.

One server is a sysprep of the other, and think that may have cause an issue.

What should I do?
