olafo -> Monitoring via email. (3.Nov.2004 1:14:00 PM)

Hi guys!

I just want to receive an email when an alert is match.

But the problem is i can't get an ok message pressing Test button.

I've probe 2 scenarios.

1 Scenario.
One 2004 isa server in which is installed a MDaemon mail server and i can telnet 25 to it, but it need authenthication and i don't know if it is the problem. If it is, how can i put the user and password?

2 Scenario.
One 2004 isa server which can telnet port 25 to my MDaemon mail server.
I put the SMTP server localhost because i suppose it is using the SMTP service of Windows 2003 server. But i don't know what user or email address put in from box.

I've enabled SMTP logging rule.

Any suggestion or correct example?

Thanks

Olaf

Hi Olaf,

Put the mail server either on an internal or external network. There is a System policy rule that allows the ISA firewall to send an alert to an Internal Network SMTP server. You'll need to create an Access Rule to allow outbound from Local Host Network to send to an external SMTP server.

There isn't a mechanism to allow the ISA firewall auth for these alerts, so make sure they are sent to an unauthenticating SMTP relay.

HTH,
Tom

Thanks Tom. I was supposed that.

But my question is the next:

How can i send an email with the smtp service of windows 2000/2003 server?

In server i put localhost, but what email address should i put?

Thanks in advance.

Doesn't look like ISA 2006 added this either, at least not to the user interface. Do you know if there's a registry setting or something less obvious to add my SMTP credentials to the "Alert Definitions"?

Thanks.
