I've noticed that ISA 2004 does not log any reports if the visitor to the site is not using a proxy....How come? What makes it different?

Hi Leon,

What do you mean "not using a proxy"? The ISA firewall logs all activity moving through it by default.

HTH,
Tom

whoops, not enough information: I have ISA 2004 installed as a firewall on my webserver.
My client is located on a different network and is visiting a site(using asp and sql) hosted on the ISA server. If the client enables browsing via proxy(squid) in IE, then he gets a timeout error 1460:- These activities I can see when I monitor the logging. If he browses without the proxy enabled he can update the site - but I cannot see the activities on the log. Log Record type equals Firewall or Web Proxy Filter. Log Time equals live.

I am also seeing a similar problem. When the clients have I.E. configured to use a proxy server, ISA2k4 logs the username correctly. When the clients do not have a proxy server defined, but instead have a default gateway of the ISA2k4 server it only logs the username as anonymous. The rules are setup to only allow out specific usergroups and that is working but the logging is not.

Any ideas?

Thanks
