rgransbury -> Logging to msql stops with odbc error (2.Jun.2005 7:45:00 AM)

I have my isa server 2004 sp1 logging to a sql database on a separate server.
At random times logging to this sql server will fail with the error message below in the event logs. This will then cause firewall service to stop and have to be restarted.

Note: datasource, table, and username have been removed.

The ISA Server Web filter failed to log information to ODBC Data Source <>, Table: <>, under User Name []. The ODBC Error description is: [State=01004][Error=0][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Fractional truncation [State=01000][Error=10054][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionRead (recv()). [State=08S01][Error=11][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]General network error. Check your network documentation. .

Thank You!

I was having the exact same issue logging to an MS SQL2000 server. I never did find out the issue that was causing it, but it did seem to be random.

One option is to not have the service stop if logging fails.

This is not a perfect solution but an option -

Under monitoring/alerts select Configure Alerts Defnitions.
Then select "log failures" and choose edit.

On that page deselect the "stop selected service".
