Hi,

We are looking to implement a ISA 2004 implementation as a caching/proxy solution for our current environment.

At present the domain is an NT4 Domain with approx 1,000 2k and xp clients. Management being Management want all users that use the INET now to be authenticated before allowing internet access.

The general implementation/theory behind ISA Server 2004 as a cache/proxy is sound in a AD environment, however I am not as clear in a NT4 domain scenario.

Can ISA 2004 be used in a NT4 environment and can it query users/groups from the NT4 domain user group list, or is it not feasible and a RADIUS implementation should be completed instead?

I understand that ISA does use NTLM authentication but can this be used in the NT4 environment or purely an AD infrastructure?

Any advice would be greatly received and any guidance towards documentation and implementation best practices would again be appreciated.

Kind Regards
Justin

Hi Justin,

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work in an NT environment, using either Windows authentication or RADIUS.

HTH,
Tom
