Oou! I'm have this issue too!
I switch on "content cheking" in firewall rules (denide applications and music) and now on some site i have "502 Proxy error". It looks in accuracy as:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;831140
but in ISA2004. If switch "Allow all content type" - all ok!

Hi,

I've got the same error message. I'm running ISA2004 and this error message seems to be appearing on all the HTTPS sites. The rules are set to allow the HTTP and HTTPS. When I do a monitoring on this specific event I can see that it is applying the default rule (deny) on SSL port 443 connection...
The strange thing is that I have another access rule that applies to another set of users giving them full access and they can access HTTPS sites without any problems...I've even gone as far as creating a protocol that includes inbound and outbound traffic on 443 and 4433(some sites are using this for SSL)..this didn't even work.

Any suggestions out there??...

Thanx [Confused]

FirestormCPT

So your ISA server has 2 rules for https traffic.
You have an allow rule(not the default rule) applied to a set of users and this works.
You also have a default https rule which says deny access. Are you saying that from your ISA Server you cannot get out onto an https site?
Which rule is your ISA server using?

Install sp1.
Read http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;317798
and don't understand: If some of a web-servers incorrectly work with "HTTP-302 redirection" that why to not make not only a rule "Onlly selected Content type", but also "All, exept selected content type"!? It would be convenient.

InactiveX

From the ISA server I can access all sites. The problem is from the client to whom the rules applies.

y0sh1

I'm running ISA 2004 and not 2000.

FireStormCPT -> RE: Error Code: 502 Proxy Error (19.Mar.2005 12:17:00 PM)

I see there's a service pack released recently for ISA 2004 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=69c5d85c-5c80-473c-9cb4-60dda75d568d&DisplayLang=en

I will apply this and check whether it fixes my problem. Will let you guys know.

Thanx.

I was also o struggling with 502 / 12202 error and I think found solution to this

Rule order:
1. Configure FW rule based on "How to create a policy that enables only Web proxy clients in Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004" MS 891241 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;891241
2. Configure Rule to allow Internal /LAN network to access External network and via build-in / pre defined HTTP, HTTPS etc. Protocols
That is it.

It worked for me. ISA 2004 + SP1 with Websense 5.51
This way anybody who doesn't configure Web Proxy on the Internal LAN network (via GPO or DNS or DHCP discovery or manually) will not see any Web connect.
