anthonymel -> How to tell if cache is working? (3.Jun.2005 11:47:00 PM)

Ok I followed the instructions I found online to make the ISA a Web proxy server. Now how can I tell if it's actually caching the pages that users vist?

I set a hard drive up to store the cache and gave it about 500 MB of cache space. I check that folder out and all that's there is Dir1.cdat.

Thanks,

Anthony

Generate a Web Usage Report and check the cache performance. The pie chart on the report will show which web objects are accessed from cache or the Internet.

I'm not sure if there is another way to check the caching functionality other than reports. Anyone?

Thanks

There's load of counters in Perfmon within 'ISA Server Cache'

yes check the web proxy log files.
Check the entries under the column : s-object-source.
There your see like entries like : Inet, NOT_Modified, Cache etc..etc..

Ok I ran some performance tests on the ISA cache and found little or no activity except when it came to the saving of URL's to the cache. The retrieval of URL's from the cache was very little. Is this normal? Maybe it's the web pages that I visit?

Thanks for your help.

Anthony
