I'm having problems getting this working and would appreciate any help / comments.

IM fails on Windows XP clients. Even changing the proxy settings makes no difference

I have an ISA array in cache mode that forwards requests through a firewall (Checkpoint) to the internet. There is a firewall policy to allow traffic through port TCP 1863 from the ISA array.

I can run IM on a server in the array and this works OK. Also, if XP users are allowed through the firewall directly on port 1863, they work OK has well.

I've been through this MS article without any success.

Do I have to include rule to allow anonymous access to the messenger server?

Further information on this problem.
I've used Ethereal to track what is happening in the background when I try to use IM on XP.
Here is the output -

Could anyone give me a run through on what is happening! Obviously authentication is failing and I can see a line that indicates that basic authentication is being used against my ISA (member) server.
