Hi there

We are having problems with the quality of webscasts from external sites. Thew webcasts start OK but then they freeze and buffer to such an extent that they are pretty much unwatchable.

We use multi server ISA 2000 arrays and they are configured as cache only. We currently use Windows Media Player 4.something although we are in the process of updgrading.

The websites have no cache headers and we have added these to our no cache rules.

Is this a known problem with ISA servers, or are we looking in the wrong place. Our firewalls allow .wmv content through.

Thanks

Jes

I can't say I've noticed any problems with our webcast connections.

What bandwith are you using and what is the streaming speed?

We have a Frame Relay connection (8Mb in 16Mb bearer) with 2000 users. Internet connection peformance is good for most tasks, for example download speeds are regularly 300K or better.

Wow! that's some pretty srious bandwidth!
Of interest, have you tried runningperformance monitor on the ISA box during these webcasts. How's CPU utilisation etc...?

With perfmon it is worth getting an idea of a "baseline" so you always have something to compare against. Sometimes the numbers are completely useless if you dont know "whats normal" for your environment.

Hi

Just to update you on this, we solved our problem by upgrading our desktop to IE6 and MP9. A bit drastic perhaps, but it did the trick.

Thanks
