Hi all,
Can Firewall Policies be enabled/disabled via scripting?
Reason being that a school that I help out at would like their teachers to be able to enable/disable Internet access on a classroom level. I don't really want them to have the whole MMC, and even with a taskpad view, they get to see ALL policies which would probably only end in tears.
Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jay,

I'm moving this to the Programming section where you might get more replies.

If you mean enabling/disabling Policy Rules, then yes, it is possible. But anyway to use remote management scripts you need to install ISA Management at computer where you want to run this script. And user that runs this script must have admin rights on ISA Server computer. Do you want all your teachers have admin rights? I think this is not best idea.

Yes, there's a script named "Enable-Disable_Rule.vbs" at www.ISAscripts.org that can do this from the command line, hence, it can be done with batch scripts, scheduled jobs, etc. But as another here pointed out, it is difficult and dangerous to set this up securely for non-admins to use it. Good luck!
