I have a default installation of SBS2000 + ISA2000 upgraded to SBS2000 SP1 + ISA2004.
I made absolutely no changes to ISA2004, and I cannot use FTP or RDP from my clients, I get a Denied Connection from the SBS Internet Access Rule (which supposedly allows clients to access everything).
I have no clue where to start/look next. Anything obvious that I could be missing?
OK, the SBS Internet Access Rule defaults to SBS Internet Users, which I believe is the Internet Users group, which my user is part of.
I played with the rule and added all users, and I was able to access FTP, then I removed all users and now I cannot access it anymore. Why am I not recognized as a SBS Internet User?
SBS can only identify your internal clients use of FTP and RDP if they have the firewall client installed and configured. If you don't have the FW client installed, ISA has no means of identifying the identity trying to open outgoing TCP connections for things like RDP and FTP. The ALL USERS special entry includes unidentified clients, hence why it works. Your solution is to either install the firewall client on the desktop PCs, or put the "All Users" group back into your allow rule.
Also by default after the upgrade to ISA2004 uploading FTP files out of your network is disabled. You have to uncheck the read only box in the FTP filter for the internet access rule to allow FTP uploading.
Even if you could upload before the upgrade. This one gets a star for second most annoying upgraded "feature".
LOL! Yes, its problematic, but makes the point that security is an important issue, and I think we can all agree that FTP is one of the most problematic, and most unsecure, application protocols we have out there

I actually found this and unchecked the read only box. I still can not upload files but I have no problem connection to the Server at the other end.
