We are trying to publish webcams. The webcam publishing software acts like a HTTP server serving images when requested. The software's publishing url is hard coded in this format "http:/xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:pppp/video/imagepull?xxxxx" where the ip is the externally published ip address. I've got this setup correctly on ISA and the webcam publishing is working great.

Here's my problem. We now needs to publish multiple webcams. The webcam software can only accomplish this by using different port numbers. For example, webcam server 1 uses 8888 and webcam server 2 uses 8889. Their respective url's are "http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8888/video/imagepull?xxxx" and "http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8889/video/imagepull?xxxx".

How do I set this up on ISA? This is the equivalant to publishing multiple web servers using the same hostname/ip but on different port numbers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx

P.S. I should point out that each webcam server is a different machine on the internal network.

P.S.S. I should also mention that in order to get one web cam server to work through ISA, I had to use both a web publishing rule and a server publishing rule. The web publishing rule specifies the destination set which is set to the path "/video/*" while the server publishing rule specifies the protocal definition for HTTP server on port 8888. Is this the correct way to do this? We also have one other web server serving the web site on port 80 which is configured through the web publishing rule only.

Hi GA,

If these are on different servers, you don't even need to redirect to different port numbers, since those are port numbers on the internal machines, not on the external interface of the ISA Server.

You should be able to publish all the servers using the same Incoming Web Requests listener. Create two destination sets and two web publishing rules and you should be in business.

That said, I haven't worked with your software. What vendor is it? Maybe I'll try it out and see how it works first hand!

Thanks!

Tom

Hi Tom,

I'm not sure if that would work. The software I'm using is WebCam32 by Surveyor (www.surveyor.com). Since the URL path is the same to the internet (i.e. http://xxx.xxx.xxx:pppp/video/image?xxxx" where the ip is the external ip address. So the only way to distinquish a request for server 1 and a request for server 2 is the port number. Unless there's a way to do a virtual path mapping where I can have the external url be "http://xxx.xxx.xxx:pppp/video/image2?xxxx" map to "http://iii.iii.iii:pppp/video/image?xxxx" where the iii.iii.iii.iii is the internal ip address having different paths.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx
