ISA Server and Weblogic - 6.Dec.2002 1:26:00 AM

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to find some information on how to configure an ISA Server to proxy to Weblogic server.

I have a web application server running Weblogic 6.1 and am in the middle of implementing an ISA server.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

PS -- Great Book Dr. Shinder

Hi Frustrated,

Thanks for the compliments on the book! [Big Grin]

Now, what does Weblogic do and what do you need it to do with ISA Server?

Thanks!
Tom

Hi Dr. Shinder,

Presently, we have some applications that in integrated into weblogic (BEA). The weblogic server is behind a firewall but I need to create a DMZ and place the weblogic server behind an ISA server.

Weblogic has an ISAPI plugin for IIS but not for ISA. This means that ISA will have to proxy to IIS first then IIS will forward to Weblogic. I have tried this piece and it works.

I am concerned that this is an extra point of failure and utilizing extra CPU process when it may be skipped.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Tom,
weblogic is a web/java application server, more commonly found in the unix enviornment.

You can set up a web publishing rule and proxy/redirect requests from the external IP to the weblogic internal IP specifying port 7001. I have https proxy/redirecting to 7001 - it should act as a standard web server. After all you can surf your web app at http://whatever:7001/index.htm

https is working fine for me with redirection weblogic, though the http requests seem to be slow. Please let me know if you have this same behavior. Thanks, Perren

Hi Perren,

HTTP requests are slow? It might be that the application has problems with the Web Proxy service. Many java apps do. You might want to use the Server Publishing method to publish the Web site and see if that helps.

HTH,
Tom
