Some time back I posted this question...
I have a UNIX Administrator that needs to telnet into his UNIX server behind our ISA Server. I was instructed to publish the server using the Server Publishing Wizard in ISA, which I did! I still however, cannot connect to the UNIX box remotely. I have verified that the correct ports are being used, (23) both directions. I have started the telnet service in 'Services' which was disabled. I still connect with a blinking cursor and after about 30 seconds receive "Host Connection Lost"

Any help or "Q' would be greatly appreciated. I was in on the Online Seminar yesterday with Microsoft. They touched on the issues of Web and Server Publishing but I think I've covered about everything.

Hi Glenn,

some items to check:
- first disable the telnet services on ISA itself.
- check that TCP port 23 is not listening on the ISA external interface. Use the command 'netstat -an' to test it.
- recheck your server publishing rule and make sure you specifiy the Telnet Server protocol.
- check that the Unix box is a SecureNAT client. His default gateway should point directly or indirectly to the ISA internal interface.
- check that TCP port 23 is now listening on the ISA external interface. Use the command 'netstat -an' to test it.

HTH,
Stefaan

Thanks,
The UNIX Box needed the gateway address to the ISA Server.
