I am having troubles with Win98 desktops and the firewall client. Users are using the ISA for its circuit layer proxy functionality not as a firewall or web proxy. WinNT and 2000 clients work fine. At present the ISA is in a separate AD forest that does not trust our internal AD domains. Users have separate accounts in the ISA�s domain and passwords are synchronized between these two accounts.

Win98 users are not able to authenticate to the ISA. Output of chkwsp32 follows:

Hi Dschlage,

Win9x = World of Hurt

I haven't seen anything that addresses this issue. I'll keep an eye out for Q articles though. Just a WAG, what happens if you install the AD client on the 9x boxes?

If I load the AD client for 9x the Firewall client pukes as follows:

Note I am taking a stock image that our company uses for a 9x box and installing the AD client and then adding the firewall client.

Hi DS,

Perhaps there is something wrong with the image? Do a fresh install of 98 and see if you have the same problems. We've installed the Firewall Client on plenty of 9x machines without problems.
