Hi!

"[Confused]"

I follow your instructions to automate the firewall client configuration (Automating the Configuration of the Firewall Client - Part 2)
In page 4 you recomend that alway use Autoconfiguration Script even when we are not using an array, that sound's great but in the Web Browser Properties on the Client Configuration node at ISA Server Console, only let me chose the two metods: DNS Name and Automatic Configuration, if I want to use only one metod the ISA Server console ask me for a DNS NAME.

When I setup the Firewall client, the web browser use the 2 options, is this correct?

Thanks, for a great place to know more...

Hi MAGLEZS,

You have to use the Name or IP address on the client configuration, but you can also configure it to use the Autoconfiguration script AND autodiscovery.

Tom

mmmh...

I prefer to use Firewall Clients...

Do I need to configure my clients as Web Proxy and SecureNAT clients?

I mean, i'm sending IP address of my ISA Server (Gateway) through my DHCP and also setup ISA Server firewall client, wich automatically configures the client has Firewall Client and Web Proxy Client.

It's best to use the 3 settings?

...or do I need to use only one?

Has you say before... Firewall Client configures Web Proxy Client... but... what happend if I only have these two settings? do I need to put de gateway on my clients?

Hi Miguel,

I'm not sure what the problem is. Are you having problems configuring the Firewall client or the Web Proxy client.

Thanks!

Tom

Hi Mr. Shinder!

My question is, Do I need to use the 3 client options of ISA Server? Or just the Firewall Client without sending the gateway (IP of ISA Server) to my clients?

I Don't know if it's best to use the 3 options or just one... what is the best option?

Hi Miguel,

The client type that's best depends on what you want to do. I recommend that you configure clients as Web Proxy and Firewall clients. You usually don't need the SecureNAT client config unless you need to support none UDP/TCP protocols.

HTH,
Tom
