Hi Todd,

Service pack 1 fixed almost all problems with FTP. The only problem is with back to back DMZs now.

HTH,
Tom

I have a problem along the same lines as this FTP within IE. Note: Command line and client software work fine its just a problem in IE!

Our web based application has links to an FTP server files within Internet Explorer. The FTP (not behind ISA) does not allow anonymous access. Here is the syntax:

ftp://username:password@ftp.domain.com/appfiles/afile.pdf

I've tried:
1 - "enable folder view for FTP sites" on and off according to article:"Issues with the Internet Explorer FTP Client."

2 - HTTP Redirector Filter is "Send to requested Web Server" directly (bypassing the proxy authentication issue) according to article: "http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/isa/proddocs/isadocs/cmt_httpfilter.asp"

3 - FTP Access Filter is enabled.
4 - clients are all SecureNAT and not using Proxy server settings.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

check out my article http://www.isaserver.org/articles/How_the_FTP_protocol_Challenges_Firewall_Security.html , in particular 4.4. Web Proxy client.

Keep in mind that if IE sends the requests as a SecureNAT client, he must be able to resolve the DNS names on his own.

HTH,
Stefaan
