Have anyone install isa server on windows 2003?
I have a little problem, i can run web proxy clients, but iam trying to setup my clients where i don't have to go to each machine and change the proxy setting on the connection tab.
I tried to configure automatic discovery on the isa server but can't get the internet, but the server can, i think it's the DNS because the clients browser show error dns or server error on the bottom page.
But when i put in the isa server address for proxy it works.
I set it up with a win2k server with no problems but why can't i do it on windows 2003?
Any ideas?

Hi Blue,

Did you configure a wpad entry in DNS?

Thanks!
Tom

tom,
i tried the wpad in DNS and DHCP no luck, when i compared that with my win2k server i only use the DHCP scope options, router, dns, and domain.
but that works fine my internet works, mail, messenger, kazaa, and all my shared folders in my domain, also iam able to get all my config /all information DNS suffix, ipadress, sub, and gateway. strange....
[Big Grin] On my windows 2003 i configure the DHCP scope options the same as the win2k server, i was able to get all information on the config /all and able to join the domain and shared folders.
should i try both wpad in DNS and DHCP?
On the windows 2003 when i open the browser the bottom left corner show the numbers 123.123.123.123 and timesout. [Mad]
i go to the browser connection tab, lan settings and put the isa server address 192.168.0.1 and port 8080 it works, but the mail, kazaa, messenger does not work, all rules and protocols in place.
[Eek!]
help...

Hi Blue,

Could be a bug in Win2003. I'm not using it until SP2 [Smile]

Thanks!

Try the command "Ping WPAD" from one of your clients that uses DHCP. It should alias to the FQDN of your ISA server.

did you have to use the wpad settings if so, how did you set that up? dhcp or dns?
if dhcp how was that specified http://server_name/wpad.dat or http://wpad/wpad.dat?
or dns wpad=server_name(full path)test.mypc.com etc...
or how was your setup on the w2k3?

Hi Blue,

I'm using wpad entries for the firewall client and Web Proxy client and there are not problems.

HTH,
Tom
