I have had our SUS server working with isa 2004 but now after setting authentication required the SUS server fails to update.Authentication errors (listed as denied and anonymous in isa logging),I have tried adding working admin usernames and passwords to SUS options but none seem to be able to trigger access thru ISA proxy
Internet browsing seems fine
Not using firewall client as its a server

Should I configure this as a direct connection and make an anonymous rule
Can't see any reason why authentication isn't passing

Hi K,

You might want to set the Windows Update site up for Direct Access.

Thanks for reply.

Found it was running as a local service on a server so no fwc and setting the authentication in the proxy didnt get passed for some reason.
making the service use a domain admin account fixed it

BTW can I open One machine ie:server to be auto authenticated without having to log in and without using the FWC.All my users are required to authenticate and all have FWC but I need the server open for nightly virus updates etc etc
