I have a problem where the solution doesn't appear to be obvious.
ISA is running the web proxy on port 8100.
We have some external websites that on on port 8080, and we cannot access these internally regardless of the permissions/groups we allow access through ISA.

I can get to them from an external pc with no problems at all.

Does anyone have any idea what could possibly be blocking this? Everything else that is published appears to work.

The error on ISA is as follows:

Log type: Web Proxy (Forward)

Status: 10060 A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Rule: Allow Internet Access from Internal and Localhost to External

Source: Internal (Internal Source IP)

Destination: External (External IP address:8080)

Request: GET http:// External IP Address:8080/

Filter information: Req ID: 0b9d60ba; Compression: client=No, server=No, compress rate=0% decompress rate=0%

Protocol: http

The error in IE on the client is:

Technical Information (for support personnel)

Error Code 10060: Connection timeout
Background: The gateway could not receive a timely response from the website you are trying to access. This might indicate that the network is congested, or that the website is experiencing technical difficulties.

Yes, there has been a custom rule created for this port.
i have tested this by removing off all specific users and allowing anyone to access these ports, and it will not work still.

Hi,

how did you publish this server? Did you use web publishing rule?

I created the rule from scratch, since its only allowing access to an external port i figured it was easier to do it this way.
I have even changed the setting to allow all outbound traffic for all users and it does not work when going through the isa server.

All other rules work without any problems i.e. OWA, VPN etc..

Hi,

I had the same problem. If you create a web rule without use web publishing rules, you cannot access this published external URL. Otherwise, if you publishing using a web listener, you will be able to access the URL.
I think this happens because when you try to access the URL, you try to connect first to localhost network (ISA) and since youŽre using an internal network IP, ISA tries to make the connection with ISAŽs internal network IP address. Using weblistener, youŽll connect directly with the published server instead of ISA box.

Regards,
Paulo Oliveira.
