Hi,

I have a problems and maybe you can help me.

I connect to several offices (customers) with Remote Desktop Connection.
I do that via the public ip address. But in one case I use the ip address and a port number.

Since we’ve implemented an ISA 2006 Server in our own office I’m unable to connect to the customers with ip address and port number.

I get the error: “Remote Desktop Disconnected.
The client could not connect to the remote computer.

Remote connections might not be enabled or the computer might be too busy to accept new connections. It is also possible that network problems are preventing your connection.

Please try connecting again later. Of the problem continues to occur, contact your administrator.”

I have the same experience with other protocols (like VNC).
There is no problem when I connect to this customer from another network.

Probably the problem is in the ISA 2006 Server, because before the implementation there was no problem.

My setup:
LAN ]----[ ISA ]----[ PIX ]----[ ROUTER ]----[ INTERNET

I think it has to do with NAT, but I’m not sure how to solve this problem.
All other functions work perfectly and I don’t want to interrupt those ones.

Conclusion: unable to connect to a remote site via:  <publicip:portnumber>

Can you help me?
Let me know when you need more information.

Yuri

Did you create a rule that allows outbound access to the alternate port number?

Thanks!
Tom

Thank you Tom,

That is the trick!  :-)

I've created:
- new 'user defined protocol'
- new 'tcp protocol', plus the portnumbers I needed
- new outbound access rule

The solution can be so simple. I didn't realized it at first.
Thanks again!
Yuri
