I recall reading either on these message boards or in "The Book" that SurfControl provided a nice application-level filter.  This is the only reason I'm posting this message here on the ISA Server site.  My problem is this: I am the netAdmin at a school.  I use ISA Server 2004/SurfControl WebFilter v5.  I have some students who have learned that they can ping (by name) filtered websites to obtain IP addresses and then turn around and enter the IP addresses into their browsers thus crippling my $13,000 filter solution.  It will only be a few seconds now before the whole student body knows how to perform this and I might as well remove the filter altogether and allow open browsing.  I posed this question to a Websense support tech and he said that there is nothing to be done, he said SurfControl doesn't store IPs associated with URLs in thier Category lists.

Is there a solution to this or is it time to start looking for a different web filter solution?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Darin
